Our services

We’re a full-service specialist hearing centre. When you visit the Hearing Institute you won’t need to go anywhere else. Our Ear Nose and Throat surgeon, ear nurse and audiologists are co-located, offering you a full range of specialist services in one convenient place.

Hearing tests

At Hearing Institute we offer a range of diagnostic tests for adults and children. If you are concerned about your hearing you can contact us directly for a hearing test, no referral is required. Our hearing testing is calibrated to meet international sound level standards and we are accredited with the ACC, Ministry and Health and Veterans noise level standards.

Hearing tests are carried out onsite at our Auckland clinics.

  • Prior to attending your appointment we will send our registration forms to gain some insight into your hearing needs. If you have any questions prior to your appointment we welcome the opportunity to answer these for you. We encourage a collaborative environment and it is important that you feel comfortable and informed to receive the best service and outcomes. We welcome you to bring a support person to the appointment and our clinics are accessible for wheelchair access.

If you know that you have a hearing loss and are interested in discussing management options for this, please let us know and we will book additional time to discuss your hearing needs.

Our assessments will include a history taking, diagnostic hearing testing and a discussion on management options. A history allows us to better understand the issues associated with your hearing. Our diagnostic hearing testing includes examination of your ears to check for ear wax and to check the health of the eardrum. We use a range of objective functional assessments to test the middle ear structures and inner ear sensory function to measure the health and integrity of the ear. The third phase of the testing includes subjective measurements of the hearing system with puretone and speech audiometry. We are then able to provide you with a report of our findings, options for referrals if required and a management plan for your hearing needs.

  • Our appointment costs for a full diagnostic hearing test are $140 for an adult assessment and $70 for a child (under 5 years old) assessment.

  • Please book an appointment online, or if you prefer you can either call us on 09 283 0200 or email us on admin@hearinginstitute.co.nz to book your appointment.
